My First Born~

One of my favorite blogger friends Rebekah has tagged me!! I am supposed to fill out the following survey about my first born child, and then tag a few fellow bloggers to take the survey. So, here I go...

1. Were you married at the time? Yes – almost 5 years~

2. What were your reactions when you found out you were pregnant? We had been trying for a few years and had all but given up! The week we found out we were pregnant with Landon we were planning on making a huge payment to a fertility clinic. We went in for an appointment (and were more than prepared to leave a HUGE check), had a routine ultrasound and lo and behold there was a baby in there! Landon is not only my miracle baby, but he saved us $10,000! I was 10 weeks along, had no idea. To say the least we were THRILLED!!

3. How old were you? I was 28 when Landon was born

4. How did you find out you were pregnant? It was a combination of the ultrasound and about 3 take home tests! We COULDN'T believe it!

5. Who did you tell first? My parents, my sister, and then Travis' parents. We didn't really tell that many other people for awhile!

6. Did you want to find out the sex? Oh yes – I am not a very patient person, we had a 3D Ultrasound as soon as we could!

7. Due date? June 28th I think it was

8. Did you deliver early or late? I delivered at 41 weeks, so about a week late.

9. Did you have morning sickness? No, thank God! I was a little nauseated for about a month, but just didn't feel like eating really. I lost 9 lbs. the first tri-mester! I put it right back on though, as soon as I got my appetite back!

10. What did you crave? I never really had any cravings. I did eat Olive Garden all the time though! Not the pasta, not the soup...just the salad! I couldn't get enough!!

11. Who irritated you the most? I don't think anybody really irritated me. I had an easy, wonderful pregnancy. I felt so blessed and was generally in a great mood.

12. What was your first child's sex? A sweet baby boy

13. How many pounds did you gain throughout the pregnancy? 43 lbs! I was HUGE. I delivered in July though and the heat, combined with swelling and water weight made for a miserable last month.

14. Did you have any complications during your pregnancy? Not really, swelling a lot at the end, but that was it. I was SO lucky!

15. Where did you give birth? At the hospital...no at home delivery for this Mama.

16. How many hours were you in labor? Remember how I said I had an easy pregnancy? Well the delivery was even easier! I was in labor from about 12:30am until he was born at 4:54am! Only about 4 hours.

17. Who drove you to the hospital? My husband of course! Although, shortly after my contractions started the bitchy nurse sent Travis home. She said he should get some sleep and since it was our first bay I would be in labor ALL night long. He left, literally 30 minutes later we called him and said GET BACK HERE NOW. Luckily we lived 10 minutes away. He got back just in time for me to get my epidural. 2 hours later Landon was born!

18. Who watched? Only my husband and Amy, my sister. She was a trooper and almost hung in there! She had to leave for the last few minutes! LOL, didn't want any fainting spells (;

19. Was it vaginal or c-section? Vaginal delivery

20. Did you take medicine to ease the pain? I got my epidural while I was dilated at 8 cent! I BARELY got it, the Anesthesiologist was racing against my body. Thankfully the medicine eased the pain, and it was pretty easy after that!

21. How much did your child weigh? 7 lb. 14 oz.

22. What did you name him/her? Landon Jay

23. How old is your first born today? 2 years, 3 months

Yay for Pictures!

I spent all day Saturday enjoying that which I refer to as "Domestic Bliss." I was home most of the day with the 2 kids while Travis ran a few errands and then hung out at a friends house for the afternoon. It was a really good day and both the kids were in great moods. Landon plays with Brynne so much now, and most days this affords me the ability to get things done!

I baked a cake for Travis~

2 Mini Cakes for my sister and her hubbs~

I made some delicious Mac N Cheese~

And managed to make some more bows and clippies~

I got all of that accomplished by noon! It was a nice, quiet, relax at home day!

Here's my sick boy on Friday in his cool bath~

Brynne wanted to get in the bath with brother! If only she knew how cool that water was!~

PopPop (Landon's Grandpa) made Landon a really neat video on the computer an emailed it to him. It was an animated cat speaking to Landon! And when kitty spoke it magically had PopPop's voice! Landon LOVED the video and watched it atleast 100 times!

This was like the 20th time he watched it....over and over...

"....look at this sister!"

"...look at this Daddy!"
The video definitely gave Landon something to concentrate on while he was feeling so bad. It was a nice, thoughful message told through an animated cat! Thank you PopPop!

Quick Update...

Today was a much better day for this Mama! As you read, Landon was sick all day Friday. Well as soon as Daddy got home from work Friday evening Landon was FINE! Seriously, 100% fine...riding his bike, asking for Peanut butter and jelly! Hello, WTH? How is this fair? I am beginning to think that Landon and Daddy have some secret pact that all instances of Poop, Puke, and Attitude will only occur while Daddy is at work! Needless to say Saturday was a much better day at the Staley house!

We had a great, relaxing weekend not doing much of anything! I have a million pictures to post but my lovely new laptop doesn't 'recognize' our camera any longer and I can't get any pics to upload! Our computer will be taking a vacation to the Geek Squad, and will hopefully come back refreshed and ready to work!

Sadly I have to keep this post short, The AMAZING Race is on, and I just can't pull my attention away from the TV long enough to put a decent thought together! But thank you all for thinking of me...and Landon! Mama's sweet boy is back to his old self, cracking us up all day long!

Be Back Tomorrow!

Long Day...

It's almost 4 o'clock and as I sat down to blog I realized I have not eaten anything today, except a handful of Nerds from the open box on the counter. Landon woke up sick this morning. By 'sick' I mean 'really sick!' He has been throwing up off and on all day and can't even keep water down. This has been such a hard day! My poor little man wants to cuddle with Mama on the couch and do nothing but watch the Wiggles (his new obsession). Meanwhile Brynne is tearing through this house like hell on wheels. In other words, it is almost impossible to give Landon the love and attention he needs and keep Brynne out of trouble and happy. Needless to say, our planned road trip this weekend will have to be postponed. It's OK, we have plenty to do around the house, and either way we will still be spending time together.

A sick toddler is a horrible thing! Landon would not eat or drink anything this morning, but his tummy was upset and he was dry heaving (violently) all morning. If for even a second he felt okay, he would jump off the couch, run around or play for a few minutes, and then pitifully come stumbling back to Mama. I had to give him a cool bath to break his fever, and he hasn't said more than 2 sentences today. He is taking his 3rd nap of the day right now, that in of itself is a small miracle. Landon hates naps, loves snacks, and drinks milk by the cup full all day long. The poor boy can't understand why Mama didn't give him candy after he poo poo'ed in the potty. He also can't understand what he did to deserve the special privilege of having a Popsicle in the bath tub! He couldn't understand why Mama wouldn't give him milk, or cookies, or peanut butter and jelly. Thank God Travis is on his way home. I can only deal with so much more puke before I go crazy!

It's days like this, as mother's, that we remember the things that we miss. I miss being able to lay in bed and read a book, or a magazine whenever I felt like it. I miss taking a shower by myself with HOT water. I miss being able to watch Martha, or Oprah or even that crazy old guy Dr. Phil. Nowadays I watch only 3 shows in the afternoon...The Wiggles, My Friends Tigger and Pooh, or Handy Manny. I miss waking up on my own, after 7am! I miss having coffee with my friends, or seeing movies with my husband. I miss going out to dinner, and shopping. I mostly miss being able to RELAX! All of these things that I used to love I no longer am familiar with. Yet, I wouldn't change a thing! When the kids grow older and are forced to leave our home we will miss so many things. I will miss stepping on toys and hurting my foot every time I walk anywhere! I will miss the calls for Mama, and the sweet carefree laughs that only children know! I will miss the wet kisses, and the sweaty boy who hugs Mama so tight after playing outside with Daddy. I will miss the crackers in the carpet, and on the tile, and in my van, and in our bed, and in the laundry room, and all over the couch. I will even miss the Poop painted on the walls in Landon's room, because that will be the funniest memory of all! And that is what being a mom is ALL about. Making memories. For us, for our children. Even though today was hard, I know tomorrow will be better. When my happy boy calls for Mama when he wakes up (please be after 8, please be after 8) then I will know he feels better and all will be right in "Mamaland" once again!

Excuse me, I'm off to enjoy a tuna sandwich!

Things I am SO excited for!

My obsession with television reaches it's peak patheticness during the fall. SO many shows, SO little time! Just a few of my favorites that I am SO excited for~

I can't wait for Halloween! This is definitely one Holiday that is SO much more exciting with kids! And being the OCD super organized mom that I am both kids have Halloween costumes already!

Trick or Treat!!

With Halloween comes Fall! My favorite season! I can already feel the cooler temperatures and I am so excited to spend the day at the pumpkin patch with Travis and the kids!

And, right around the corner will be our first snow of the season! I am so excited to see Landon play in the snow, and can't wait to have a fire in the fireplace and lay around the house with my family!

AND, I am SO excited for the short road trip that Travis and I AND the kids are taking this weekend! We are only going 3 hours away, but I know we will have so much fun at the River!

So blogger mom's, what are YOU excited for?

Brynna Ballerina

Is this not the CUTEST thing ever!

My Blogger friend Cara sent me the easiest instructions for making Brynne a tutu. It was SO easy, took about an hour, and cost under $5! Can't beat that! Just look at my little princess now!

Top 5 Tuesday!

Dana my new blogger buddy lists a new topic every Tuesday. Anyone can participate and you can leave the link to your blog on her page, kinda like FFF.

Today's topic is "What are your top 5 favorite or least favorite things about where you are currently living?"
Without giving our exact city, I can say that I live in Southern CA, in a small country community, along the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains.
#1~My favorite thing about where we live is the weather. Because we live at a pretty high altitude (for Southern CA) we enjoy ALL 4 season's. Most areas of So-Cal experience warm weather and drought like conditions all year. I love that we get snow a few times a year, the leaves are changing now for fall, and in a few months the trees will bloom and the birds will be chirping away!
#2~I LOVE that this home is my Husband's dream house. Our property is a comfortable compromise between both of our upbringings. Travis was raised on many acres in Northern FL. I was raised in the Mountains of Southern Ca. It is hard to find a home on a lot of land out here and we feel truly, truly blessed that we stumbled upon our home. Our house sits atop a hill on 3.8 acres! That is A LOT of land for this area and we LOVE it!
#3~I LOVE that we can leave our garage open or our doors unlocked all night long and we don't have to worry about being vulnerable. Our area is very safe and all the neighbors watch out for each other.
#4~ I LOVE that every time somebody drives by our home they wave. Nobody ever did that at either of our other homes. I am so glad to be in a friendly neighborhood.
#5~I LOVE that the school district in our area is listed as one of the "Top 5" school districts in Ca. That was a huge part of why we relocated to this area. I have a few years to cherish before Landon or Brynne start school, but I am glad that when they do they will get a great education.
and...can I cheat and leave a 6th entry?
#6~The absolute best thing about where we live is being less than five minutes from my sister! I love that I can be at her house in minutes, and we can grocery shop together and see each other as often as we like! The only thing that would make me happier would be if she lived next door!

Ouch!

Need some comic relief? Stay tuned, I have a story for you!

So today my mom, sister and I had a yard sale at my house. We live on a dirt road, in a semi-rural area. Our road, although it is unpaved, is right off of a major CA highway. I wanted to catch the eyes of passing highway motorists and thought the best way to do so would be to park my van at the corner and cover it with huge "Yard Sale <----" signs. Our yard sale was pretty successful and by noon we were almost sold out. The corner where I parked my van is about a mile from my house, definitely too far to walk. My mom gave Landon and I a ride to the corner to my van so I could take the signs off and drive it back home. We got to the corner, I got out...ran across the street to my van and spent a good 5 minutes removing the signs. About the time I finished I looked back to my mom's car just in time to see her pick up a hysterical Landon off the asphalt! He was crying so loud, so I knew something bad had happened. I ran to them and my mom said he was in the backseat and had fallen out of the open window. She did not see how he landed, but we did not see any blood on the road or on him. Luckily the car was in park and no other vehicles were passing at the time. It only took a few minutes to calm him down and he seemed to be ok, not seriously hurt...just upset! I told her I'd drive him back in my van, she said "See you in a minute" and turned her car around and headed back towards my house. Landon and I made the short walk back across the street to my van, I put him in his seat and went to back out. UH OH, within seconds my van was stuck in the dirt, tires spinning, high-ended. There was no way I was getting out of this sand. AND, for the first time ever I had left the house without my cell phone! I knew my mom would realize I was taking too long to get back and I knew she would come to see what had happened. I decided to start walking back up the road towards home, until she drove back and could give us a ride. I got Landon out of the car, locked it, turned to walk away and stepped on a cactus! I saw the cactus, I tried to avoid the damn thing, but somehow my foot stepped right into the cactus. HOLY CRAP, it hurt SO bad! I live in Southern CA, therefore I wear flip flops all year long...even when it's raining! BIG mistake today. I immediately screamed in pain and in doing so Landon was again hysterical because Mama had a weird, scary plant stuck to her foot and her ankle. Yep, that's right. The cactus was in so deep that I could not shake it off. I couldn't pull it out without stabbing my fingers. SO I took my sweatshirt off, wrapped it around my hand and pulled the first chuck of cactus out of my toes. I tried to pull the second chunk out of my pant leg and ankle and it would not budge. With every tug the pain was worse and worse. Landon was crying and screaming because he knew something had happened to Mama. I decided that I would not be able to get the cactus out until I got home and could have Travis pull it out. I started limping up the road hoping that my mom would come soon. I walked only 100 feet or so and there she was! I could see her coming towards me in her car. We stopped on the side of the road and waited for her to come to us. She said she knew something was wrong because it took me too long to get back home. I told her what happened with my car being stuck and the cactus still in my leg. She took Landon and I home and I hobbled into the house and went straight for the couch! Amy saw the cactus in my leg and decided that she would pull it out! Now this wasn't just a thorn or two, it was an entire 4" long piece of branch that had broken off. I told Amy to use pliers and she said No, she would just use 'rose-bush gloves.' HA, big mistake! She put the gloves on, counted to three and pulled. The cactus came out, I screamed (Oh my gosh, it hurt SOOOO bad), and then Amy screamed! In pulling it out of my ankle Amy had squeezed too hard and the cactus was now stuck in her hand. She instinctively went to grab it out of her left hand and got the cactus stuck in her right hand. She finally wrapped a kitchen towel around it and pulled it out of her hand carefully, then we threw it away towel and all. Within a few minutes I was feeling a lot better and we started to laugh about how crazy the day was turning out. A few hours later Travis went back down to pull out my van with a neighbor, a 4wheel drive truck, and a tow-chain. While hooking up the tow chain under my car he accidentally rested his arm onto the chunk of cactus I had pulled out of my toes earlier! He did the same thing Amy did and went to pull out the cactus. Yep, you guessed it...stuck in his hand! It took a minute but he got it out of his hand, and also got the van out of the sand. Pretty crazy day just for a yard sale! But we had a good day overall (: Atleast we can all laugh about it now. Here are the pictures of the cactus piece that was stuck in my leg~

As for Landon he is doing fine after his fall. He has 2 bruised knees and a good sized egg on his head. Poor boy...it's always something with him! Poor Grandma too, I thought she was going to have a heart attack. She loves her 'Big Boy' and would die if anything ever happened to him. We are so blessed to be surrounded by people who care so much about our babies. It was only an accident, and had Landon been listening he would have been sitting on his bottom and not hanging halfway out the window! Auntie Amy and Uncle Nate babysat for us tonight so Travis and I could go out to dinner and run some errands. We had a great dinner, shopped at Lowe's, and then walked around the mall while we ate ice cream. It was such a fun date night and we had a great time! Thanks Auntie Amy and Uncle Natey!

Look Ma! No Hands!

Brynne is Standing on her own~

Brynne is standing every chance she can! Now, when she pulls herself up on the couches, tables, brother...whatever, she lets go and can balance and stand on her own for long moments! Ugh, will this girl just slow down~

I need a Vacation!!

Ummm Ya, so I definitely know that God has a sense of humor, and is most likely trying to teach me a lesson on mommyhood. Either that or Landon is trying his darnedest to turn Mama into a drinker!! He did IT again! Yep.Poop. Everywhere. Again. I have no idea how to discipline a 2 year old who finds it fun and entertaining to play in their own waste. Last time he did this, just a few days ago, I talked to him about how we don't play with our poo poo, and that it is yucky! He seemed to understand and acted like he was sad and disappointed in himself. This time I saw the mess..which was WAY worse btw, and I told him to get in the shower and then he was getting a spanking. He was instantly upset to get a spanking from Mama. As a general 'rule' Travis and I don't usually spank Landon, unless he has done something really bad, or is being mean to his sister...or if he plays out in the road, mostly we pick our battles. I mean C'mon, if we spanked him every time we "needed" it would have no effect on him at all. He's 2, he's a boy, he gets into everything! So I put him in the shower, got my disposable rubber gloves and headed back into his room. It only took me 30 minutes to clean up this time, but I am far from being done. I have to wait for Travis to get home from work because both the kids are trying to get in their to see what I am doing. I am beyond wanting to deal with keeping them out of there while I clean the carpet (again!)

The part that really makes me upset is that Landon is potty trained! He has been for a few months now and he goes ALL day long with no accidents. He tells us every time he has to pee or poop and he does so on the big potty. We put him to bed with a Pull-Up because he can't hold his pee all night and I was sick of changing his bedding constantly. I was going to let him grow a little bit and get used to waking himself up to potty before I try and train him to wear underwear to bed. Today, and I mean asap, I am headed to Target, the mall, even Wal-Mart if I have to. I am on a Mama mission to find "onesies" in size 2T or 24 months. From now on he will be snapped into that damn Pull-Up! He still can't undo the snaps on a onesie and this is the only way I can think of to keep his Pull-Up on. He is doing this crap (literally) when he wakes up, early before Mama is awake, and playing quietly until he is bored or hungry and then calls Mama to see his work! Any other Mommy suggestions out there are much needed too!

I am SO glad it is Friday. At least Travis will be here with me tomorrow morning, I doubt I can do this 3 times in one week! Hope you all have a great weekend (:

8 Months Already!

8 Months ago today God blessed Travis and I with our beautiful baby girl. She has brought so much joy...and pink, to our lives. I feel so fortunate to have a daughter and grow more and more in love with her with each passing day. I can't even tell you how much we love her sweet hugs or her precious baby noises. She is healthy, so happy, and so much a part of my heart. I can not believe my 'baby' will be 1 in 4 short months! The Holiday's are fast approaching and this time of the year flies by anyway, I will cherish these next 4 months as I watch my baby grow. Here are some of my favorite pictures of my SWEET girl Brynne, from her 8 month shoot~

And finally, Mama's favorite. This photo makes my heart hurt!
