Favorite Foto Friday~ This Week's Theme~ Black and White

Anybody who knows me knows how much I LOVE photography. I am rarely never without my camera. Since becoming a Mama the kids are of course my favorite subject! If given a preference I always choose Black and White photos over color! So believe me I had a hard time picking just a few for this weeks theme. Here are some of my favorite recent pictures~

My handsome 2 year old at Auntie's wedding this past June. He looks so grown up!

Baby Brynne is all over the place now!

Here are the kids with my parents earlier this summer. We are blessed to have them so involved in our lives and they make our lives so much better! We love PopPop and Myna! (Apparently Landon can't say Grandma so now my mom will forever be referred to as Myna!)

One of my favorite all time pics with my favorite boy on the planet!

Our sweet girl is growing up so fast. She is so beautiful, even with her hand in her mouth! Hard to get a picture where her hand is not in her mouth these days!

My handsome hubby and I earlier this summer. Love you Honey!!

And in closing my all time FAVORITE picture of Landon and Brynne. I think this picture shows the way Landon feels about his sister so nicely! There is SO much love there! I hope they will always be each other's best friends! Just like Amy, my sister, and I!

Landon + Power Nap = Devil Child

Landon has caught a virus! A horrible virus known as the 'power nap' bug! I have come to really dislike the 20 minute 'power naps' that Landon takes while riding in the car. Since he was born Landon has HATED being in the car, or more likely he has Hated being strapped into a carseat. Whenever we run errands or have playdates in the mornings he misses his normal 10:30am nap. We are usually always home by 2 and he is SO tired by then. Lately however, Landon has been taking 20 minute 'power naps' in the car. This in itself is a small miracle considering that he never slept in the car until he was 14 months old!! Never! By the time I get him out of the car when we get home he is wide awake and ready to play again. I have tried taking him out of the carseat and putting him directly into his bed but he usually plays in his room and yells at me over the baby gate until I get him out. Sidenote: Yes I put a baby gate in his doorway whenever he is napping. This way I can shower, tend to Brynne, do laundry, or log onto the computer to blog pay bills! After his 'power nap' in the car he will not take a normal, 'in my bed asleep for 2 hours while Mama enjoys a much needed break' nap. So by the time 5 o'clock rolls around my sweet boy becomes the devil and is a crazy, whiny, tantrum throwing 2 year old. We have to keep him occupied all evening to distract him from the fact that he is a walking ball of unpredictability! Although I am glad he is able to sleep in the car now I find myself telling him stories and making up stupid songs all the way home just so he wont fall asleep! I am constantly looking towards the back seat praying that his eyes are not rolling back into his head as sleep sets in. If I can just keep him awake for the 15 minutes it will take us to get home I know he will take a good nap and wake up as the happy sweet boy I know he is! Any other moms out there experiencing the annoying 'power nap' syndrome? I should also say that Brynne has never had a problem sleeping in the car. She is one of those babies that Travis and I always heard about but never believe existed. She is always happy to be in the car, only cries if she is starving, and sleeps just fine snuggled up in her carseat. In fact just last weekend as we were on our way home from running errands Landon was whining and crying just because he was in the car (and no doubt tired), while Brynne was sound asleep being a good girl! I said to Travis "Atleast we have one of those babies that sleep in the car." Amen to that!

Happy Friday!!

Since the Favorite Foto Friday theme this week is 'stuffed animals' I have decided to skip the theme. My babies are only a 2 year old and a 7 mo old, so we really don't have many stuffed animals. I am not a huge fan of stuffed animals anyhow and toss them out whenever Landon is not looking! Instead I have decided to blog about Landon's trip to Toys R Us. As I have blogged before my husband's entire family lives in FL. We don't see them as often as we would like to, but try to stay in touch with phone calls and pictures. For Landon's birthday his Nana and Poppy (Travis' mom and step-dad) sent him some money for a Toys R Us trip. Well, we went this week and had so much fun! My little man is definitely growing up and knows exactly what he wants...EVERYTHING! LOL, here are a few pictures from our afternoon trip to Toys R Us!

So, yes, Landon got his first real big boy bike complete with training wheels. He helped Daddy put it together last night and has been playing on it ever since. Luckily we have a lot of tile floors in the house so he is doing all of his practice laps through the kitchen and living room! He has not completely gotten the hang of pedaling just yet, but let me tell you this boy LOVES his new bike! I will post pictures in a few days of the assembling and learning process!

Happy Friday (:

Am I alone here?

When Landon was about 10 months old I guess, I joined a local 'Mommy and Me' class. We met once a week for about an hour for playtime, 'crafts' and music and dancing. Fun, social things for kids aged 6 months to a year. I joined with a girl I work with and her son who is only a few months younger than Landon. We had a really good time, and the teacher was great. Landon loved to go to the class and was always the kid who wouldn't sit still and was running everywhere. But it was a great experience and I have often thought about taken Brynne to a similar class. Unfortunately in our area there are no classes for Mommy's that want to bring more than one child to the same session. I recently found out that most of the moms from Landon's original class were meeting weekly for playdates. So, Tuesday I loaded the kids in the van and headed out to meet everyone. It was fun to see all the moms and catch up, and Landon loved playing with other kids his age. We 'played' for an hour and a half and then all went our separate ways. During the hour and a half all but 2 of the other moms did nothing but bitch and complain about their husbands and kids! It drove me crazy! One mom did nothing but tell me how she hates staying home all day with her daughter because she follows her around all day and she gets nothing done! Every time she tries to sit on the couch and watch a movie her daughter cries! Another mom went on and on about how her husband gets mad because she won't keep the house clean and she thinks he should clean the house since she watches the kids. It was so annoying! Believe me, Travis and I have a wonderful relationship but we are far from perfect. Our marriage is a priority in our life and like most anything else worth having it takes work. I feel so blessed that one of us are home at all times with our kids and never once have they been to daycare! I know that some moms don't have the choice, and I am not saying there is anything wrong with daycare, but for us it has never even been an option thus far. I love my husband and my kids and they are the most important things in my life...well besides my new laptop (; Kidding! Anyway, I would never talk bad about my husband, or put him down to my friends. How healthy would that be for our marriage? It just got me thinking that if these moms put as much energy into their families as they do into complaining then things may be different! So I left the play area feeling disappointed and sad. THEN, to make me even more sad, I went to work in the evening. One of my managers was saying how excited she was to be off the next day. She also has a two year old son (and one on the way). I asked her if she was going to do something fun with her son. She said "No, he goes to daycare...actually I am going to be lazy and sit on the couch all day watch movies, and enjoy my time alone." And she said it with a straight face! HOLY COW! That made my heart hurt! Poor boy, away at daycare while his mommy sits at home, perfectly capable of taking care of him, watching movies! When we become mommy's don't we agree to give up our 'alone time?' I know I did! I can't even pee without Landon standing in front of me, lol. What the heck is wrong with these women? Thank God for my children and any day I have with them is truly a blessing. And thank God for my husband who works hard each day so that I may stay home with them. Thank God I am the one who wipes snotty noses, makes 1,000 snacks a day, reads to them, sings with them, plays with them, teaches them, gives them naps, learns from them, potty trains them, kisses their booboos, and disciplines them. Most importantly LOVES them, hugs them, and kisses them! I can't imagine someone else doing these things all day. Today I am thankful, again, for all the blessings in my life (:

YAY, I'm baaaaaack!

So we FINALLY have a new computer!! A brand new shiny pink (yes, I typed PINK) Sony Vaio. We are loving it so far, and I already feel like I am once again whole (: I have been out of touch for a few days now and have so much to blog about!

Sweet Brynne was 7 months yesterday! My how time flies by (I feel like I say that all the time now that I have 2 kids!). She is growing up so fast and is so beautiful! I tell ya, I have no idea where that girl gets her beautiful, LONG eyelashes! Certainly not from her Mama! She is crawling all over the house now, keeping me on my toes. She follows Landon around everywhere and can't take her eyes off him. He is such a great big brother to her and is always eager to help. Whenever I am changing her diaper or getting her dressed he does anything he can to make Mama's job easier, sometimes he'll bring me a wipe, or her comb to do her hair. He covers her in kisses all day long and asks for her constantly while she is napping. He has even started calling her 'baby sister' all the time now. Not Brynne, just baby sister. LOL. It is so amazing to see the strength and love in their relationship so early on. Travis thinks Brynne will be walking in the next month or two. She is already standing for long periods of time with our help, or along the couch. Landon walked at 8 months so I was hoping Brynne would be a little lazy and maybe not walk as early! Since she wants to do everything brother does and wants to be with him all day I am sure she will find a way!

Feed Me Mama!

As soon as Landon wakes from his afternoon nap FOOD is all he can think about! He is barely walking straight from still being sleepy but he comes straight to the kitchen for his lunch! Yay for cool summer lunches! Hot Dogs, Cheese, Grapes and Blueberries! YUM!

Look how tired he looks!

Just call me Martha!

Stewart that is! I saw this project on TV for a hair bow holder for a little girls room or bathroom. The whole project, shopping and all, took just under an hour! SO easy and SO cute! These pictures just don't do it justice! Now Mama's project hangs proudly on Brynne's bedroom wall and looks like a peice of art! Take a look!
